Montessori Teaching Philosophy

Montessori teaching philosophy is to “follow the child”. In every stage of child development, by offering a maximal freedom and satisfying their intrinsic motivation, providing encouraging and stimulating environment, the child will be able to develop their maximum potential comprehensively, so as to raise their self-awareness and self-worthiness, also to encourage them to learn through exploration and the habit of self-direction.
Self-Discipline

Freedom allows us to choose freely, yet freedom also comes with responsilbility. One of the common misconceptions about Montessori education is that we let the children run free to do what they please all the time. In order to enjoy the true freedom of life, "self-discipline" is a key factor. Self-discipline helps one in making sensible choices and decisions. Young children who have self-discipline can cope with uncomfortable emotions in a healthy way. Self-discipline is an inner awareness of his own needs as well as the others and so as the environment, It is about mutual respect. Young children deserve the guidance and patience of the adults around them to develop self-discipline.
Play

Children love playing. Play can let children experience the joy of freedom, cooperation and sharing. Therefore, children will be able to learn with self-motivation, sense of engagement and excitement through play. Play also helps children to express their inside world and explore the real-world environment. Play is an effective way of learning.
Mustard Seed Playschool focuses on learning through play. Children will be learning through playing different kinds of game design, educational toys from all over the world and Montessori learning materials. We make adjustments on the toys regularly, so as to make sure your child is refreshed and interested in toys.

We offer a space of over 3000 square feet and have a view of the spectacular Victoria Park, providing a spacious playground, classrooms and music room. Our children love our play area as it involves a variety of physical facilities, they will be able to enhance their gross motor skills by using the facilities with parents’ accompaniment.
In our classroom, we prepare a learning environment fulfilled with motivations. We place different categories of educational toys and Montessori materials on the shelves. Our children are allowed to choose freely under teachers’ guidance, so as to motivate their self-learning and decision making. Sensorial exploration enables stimulation of languages, body and brain, therefore children can obtain a whole learning development.
